Point of View: April Hall

In the evening, April helps Melanie babysit Marshall while Melanie's parents are away. They consult a book on palm reading and try to read their own palms, then Marshall's.

The next day, Ken joins the "Gypsy" meeting, as he is back from his skiing holiday. Elizabeth, however, is not present; she is away visiting relatives.

Ken is not too fascinated by the idea of the new game, but after hearing that Gypsies wear colorful clothes, play musical instruments and do tricks like juggling, he is more interested. April wants to read his palm, but Ken does not let her, and they fight. They stop when they hear an unfamiliar noise just outside the gate, sounds of bumping and scratching. Marshall opens the gate and announces that a bear has come.
